Lilly’s Losers

September 7th, 2017

Hall County High School Football

Week two was blow outs and shout outs. The Red Elephants went into the coliseum and were easy prey for the Clarke Central Gladiators. The Lakeview Lions were also hunted down and tamed by a good Athens Academy team. The Hot Gates were on fire down in Oakwood where the West Hall Spartans burned up Washington Wilkes to a crisp. The sky blue knight of Johnson had to retreat back to the kingdom after a sacking up in Banks, and The Branch looked good in their bird hunt they had over the Chestatee War Birds.

Week Three

North Hall VS. Pickens County

The north nation will travel to a dragons liar this week, and they will look to slay the beasts of Pickens County. The hot mouths have already burned up one team this year, and I feel good they will do the same to the same to North Hall.

Lilly’s Loser- Noth Hall.

East Hall VS. Johnson

The Vikings will sail down to the Dungeon at Johnson and look to pillage and destroy all night long. The sky blue men, who have played bravely this year, will have some torture tools ready to stop the high flying offense of the horn heads. However, the Norse gods will be good to East Hall and provide them with a significant victory.

In a blowout, Lilly’s Loser- Johnson.

Lakeview VS. Commerce

There will be a massive cat fight down in Jackson County Friday night. There will be no sleeping through this clash of felines because the black and gold kitties will take down the blue and white kittens. Look for Commerce to declaw Lakeview in a blowout.

Lilly’s Loser- Lakeview.

West Hall VS. Jackson County

The Panthers will roam up in Greece this weekend, and they will be looking for a fight. Well, they will for sure get one from the rampaging Spartans of West Hall. The Lotti Lads have looked good the last two weeks, but so have the County boys from Jefferson. Two well-coached teams can only mean one heck of a game to watch. The black cats will be fierce, but the Hot Gates will claim another victim.

Lilly’s Loser-Jackson County.

Flowery Branch VS. Stephens County

The Branch was put on alert this week that the Stephen County in on the war path. The war drums will beat all the way down the highway into the bird’s nest. The high flying Falcons will be on alert and be in the air to defend their turf. There will be a scalp this week, but it will not have feathers on it because the Falcons will soar to victory.

Lilly’s Loser- Stephens County.

Chestatee VS Fannin County

It is only a matter of time before the PC police came calling for the Fannin County Rebels. The Blue Ridge boys will not have a chance in that battle, and they will not have a chance in their fight against the marron a gray of Sardis. Look for the Rebels to lose a lot more than just their mascot in this game.

In a blowout, Lilly’s Loser- Fannin County

College Football

What a great week of college pigskin action! The Dawgs won one but lost the west coast wonder kid, but Jake stepped in to save the day. Clemson looks great once again with their new QB throwing the ball all over the field. Bama, enough said about that powerhouse. Also, I hate to say but the bugs of Ga Tech looked good and lost one they should have won. Lastly, what in the world was up with that Texas A&M meltdown??

Georgia VS. Notre Dame

Coach Kirby takes his Georgia canines on a rare trip north of the Mason-Dixon Line to Leprechaun Land better known as South Bend, Indiana. The last time the Bulldogs traveled this far north was in 1965 when Preston Ridlehuber led the Bulldogs to a 15-7 win over Michigan before 59,090. Michigan Stadium was not called the “Big House” in those days.

Coach Rich Kelly of Notre Dame is said to be protecting his gluteus maxim us as he sits in his seat this year and knows he will need more than a shamrock to beat Kirby’s Canines. The Bulldogs will be on a stage much different from what they see between the hedges in Athens, and what signal caller Jake Fromm experienced in Warner Robins. These pigskin showdowns are won with the “Big Ugly’s” on the offensive line. The edge goes the “The Fighting Shamrocks” line in a close one.

Lilly’s Loser- Georgia

South Carolina VS. Missouri

Will Muschamp entered his second year as Head Rooster of the Hen House with a win over over the Wolf Pack from Raleigh last week. This week Will the Warrior will lead his Egg Purveyors to Columbia, Missouri. Head coach Jeff Tedford will have his “Show Me Tigers’ looking at the menu for chicken entrees. In addition, this Saturday will be Band Day, Spirit Day as well as Scout Day at Mizzou.

Missouri hung 72 points on the Missouri State Bears in their first contest. 72 Points are quite a show even in the Pop Warner League. Missouri hasn’t had anyone this hot from “The Show Me State’  since Frank and Jesse James.

Lilly’s Loser- The Fried Chicken

Ohio State VS. Oklahoma

Urban Meyer has a tough game ahead when his Buckeyes welcome  Oklahoma to Columbus in what some say is a playoff preview. Boasting a team with 5-star talent two layers deep, Meyer thinks this team is the best he’s ever coached.  True or not, Lincoln Riley’s Sooners and Heisman hopeful Baker Mayfield plan to show Meyer that his nuts aren’t so tough. The matchups of offense and defense are tighter than Rosie O’Donnell’s yoga pants but look for OSU to prevail in the end.

Lilly’s loser by less than a touchdown- Oklahoma.

Stanford VS. USC

In this top 25 matchup, the red birds of Stanford take on the ancient war fighters of L A in the battle of Cali. Even though the Christmas Trees have won the last three matchups, the spear throwers are a slight favorite this year with Mr. Mcaffery out of the bird’s nest.

In a close one, Lilly’s Loser USC

Clemson vs. Auburn:

The cats from Auburn are chomping at the bit to take a bite out of Dabo’s fury felines after last year’s loss on the Plains.  Auburn and Clemson are both nationally ranked and coming off season opening blowout wins, which were little more than scrimmages.  There’s no love lost between these cats with Clemson having the best of the Plainsmen during their most recent battles.  Fur will by flying, but it’s going to be the reigning National Champs who edge it out under the lights of Death Valley.

Lilly’s Losers- Auburn

Pittsburgh vs. Penn State:

The high-powered Lions of Happy Valley are looking forward to mixing it up with their in-state brethren from the Steele City.  Pittsburgh is a program on the way up, but they are going to have a difficult time pinning the boys in blue who are looking like contenders again.  Expect this in-state showdown to stay close for a while, but it won’t be happy in Happy Valley by the end of the game for the Steele City cats.

Lilly’s Losers- Pittsburgh.

Lilly’s Losers is in honor of Leonard Postero who created the original Leonard’s Losers. Many fans, to this day, love the wit and humor of his football prognostications.

These musing are just for fun during the high school and NCAA football season.

Also, we will miss our friend Shaw Carter. He was a better man than all of us!

The team:

Buttermilk- John N. Lilly III

Jungle Cat- JC Smith

The Bookkeeper- Rusty Hopkins

Presbyterian Padre- Pastor Stacey Cox
