Lilly’s Losers

August 24th, 2017

Hall County High School Football

High School football is back in Hall County, and so is Lilly’s Losers. The season started off with lots of offense in week zero. There were lots of penalty yards and testy players at City Park in the West Hall VS. Gainesville game. We had a major offensive shoot out in the East Hall VS. Habersham game. The Knights played hard, as usual, but came up short in the Dungeon against Social Circle, and the battle of the North went to the War Eagles this year. What will happen this week?

Gainesville VS. Alpharetta

The Red Elephants will drive to the posh Northside of Fulton county to play the maroon and gray Raiders. They may be serving wine and cheese at the game on silver platters, but the large mammals will be ready to stampede the party early on. The Raiders will look to send the country boys home early, but I like the Tusks to gore the big city boys. Lilly’s loser- Alpharetta.

East Hall VS. Chestatee

The horn heads will sail into the nest of the war birds for a battle of high flying offenses. I  don’t know what a war eagle is, but this team looked good in beating their rival last week. While in Hab land the Vikings took a beating up and down the field. If the war birds can keep their beaks to pluck out on defense, they should win. Lilly’s loser East Hall.

Lakeview VS. East Jackson

The fighting felines of Lakeview will look to hunt down and dine on the Eagles of the school over in the East of Jackson County. Although they are an endangered species, the Eagles will have their talons to fight off the wild game hunters. Look for calm and cool Coach Gruhn to have his untamed kitties ready to pluck the feathers of East Jackson. Lilly’s loser East Jackson.

North Hall VS. Flowery Branch

The men of Troy took a beating last week, and they now have to play the horticulture school with a new coach from the dragons liar. If the Branch can score early, they might be able to sack the city up North for their first win of the season. The young Trojans will again battle hard and try to pluck the flower child’s, but the new look Falcons will soar to the win. Lilly’s loser North Hall.

West Hall VS. Johnson

This year’s battle of Oakwood should have the same outcome as last year. The Knights of Johnson fought bravely to defend the dungeon but were thwarted at home last week. The men of Greece will want to conquer Oakwood and release the heat of the Hot Gates. Look for Greek cheese to be spread all over Oakwood with the men in sky blue run out of the kingdom. In a blowout, Lilly’s loser Johnson.

Lilly’s Losers is in honor of Leonard Postero who created the original Leonard’s Losers. Many fans, to this day, love the wit and humor of his football prognostications.

These musing are just for fun during the high school and NCAA football season.

Also, we will miss our friend Shaw Carter. He was a better man than all of us!

The team:

Buttermilk- John N. Lilly III

Jungle Cat- JC Smith

The Bookkeeper- Rusty Hopkins

Presbyterian Padre- Pastor Stacy Cox
